Methodist Hospital Merrillville, Ind. Radiation Therapy Vaults

Thanks to an opportunity to build side-by-side Radiation Therapy rooms, we, at Frank H. Stowell & Sons, were able to get an extra bump in the number of Varian TrueBeam spaces we have built.  Of course, what it did not do was reduce the amount of concrete wall and radiation protection that we had to install.

Each room was its own separate project.  This required proceeding from start-up to commissioning to patient treatment on the first vault before we could start work on the second vault.  The only economies of scale were that the hospital could treat patients throughout the process and that each project was completed in just eight (8) weeks.

Still, meeting the hospital’s scheduling needs and Varian’s stringent specifications and timetable was satisfaction enough for us.
